I waited so long for the next Brooks brothers story and what a disappointment. There was no chemistry between Turner and Annabelle. She was very unlikable. The storyline was rushed as was the character development. I get so tired of girls who cave to whatever the friends want her to do, I.e, wear slutty clothes, go to a bar, etc. Annabelle tries to come off tough but she is just a whiner. There was no build up to their passion. I hope Marcie and Dodger's story is better but then again Macie is also unlikable.

Slider Core Four Book 2 edition by Stacy Borel Contemporary Romance eBooks Reviews

I'm not gonna lie, I was slightly disappointed with this book. I've been looking forward to this book for over a year now. I fell in love with the Brooks family in Bender, and in the epilogue when Turner and Annabelle's story was introduced, I couldn't wait. However, by the end of the book, I felt like I barely know the characters like I did in Bender. For example, why did either one go into the medical field? Why was Tuner such an adrenaline junkie? What was Annabelle like as a child? These two honestly only went on about 5 dates and there was little build up to the "I think I'm falling for you." I felt like their relationship was too rushed, or there wasn't enough dialogue between the two. The book, in my opinion, spent too much time in Annabelle's head and about how much she didn't want to "live," yet there was little conflict between the two characters. Annabelle didn't really stand her ground, or fight back like Keegan did with Camden. The passing of baby Noah was heartbreaking, but I felt like it took up too much of the story line. Although the book itself was well written, I think the story could use a lot of work. Still looking forward to Dodger and Macie's story, though!
I really enjoyed this book, it's the second book in the Core Four series. In this book we get reacquainted with Turner Brooks and Annabelle. Annabelle is very closed off and scared of caring for anyone too much in fear that she could lose them. So she just doesn't let them in. Turner is a hot doctor who likes to play the field. He asks Annabelle out but she turns him down, bit of course they end crossing paths again. I really liked how the characters were described and how they all interacted with each other. How Turner is such an adrenalin junkie and how he gets Annabelle to open up and with that she lets more than just Turner in and how it enriches her life. Love the Brooks brothers and can't wait to get more of them

I wanted to love this book after reading Bender. I felt like the story had huge promise, but it ultimately ended flat. I love the premise behind the characters; I think the brothers and their now girl partners make an interesting group. I’m a baseball fan, and I really like the naming of the male characters. For me, this story was written very well until the end. I felt like the ending was rushed and not complete. Without giving any spoilers, I would have liked to have known more about the characters journey at the end. Additionally, there were MANY, MANY errors in this book. I actually put the book down several times and forced myself to pick it back up to finish the story.
I loved those Brooks brothers when I first met them in Bender and couldn't wait to see what in store for them next. It took a while for Stacy Borel to turn out Slider but I have to say that wait was worth it. While there were a few grammatical and editing mistakes they didn't detract from the overall story. This book picks up right where the first one left off...

To be fair, this book, and leading man- Turner are vastly different from what I was expecting going in. I was expecting more of the broody, dominant almost angry guy, like Camden, But Dr. Brooks is nothing like that. He's a player and has made his rounds. Turner has this quiet intensity about him that just draws you in and keeps you captivated. He also has this calming presence, I guess its the doctor in him, but it really showed when he was helping Annabelle when she got hurt. I loved his patience with the skittish and guarded woman. He gave her what she needed and didn't push too hard or too fast.

Now that Annabelle is a real piece of work. Deep down she has a heart of gold but hides behind a sharp tongue and quick wit. She has suffered more than her fair share of heartbreak and lonely existence. I'll admit that I had a hard time connecting with her initially. But as the story progressed and her true heart started to show I fell for her. What melted my heart the most was watching her blossom and open up as she spent time with baby Noah. Ugh- that part of the story line gutted me. I found it very brave of Stacy Borel to tackle that issue.

It was also nice catching up, albeit briefly, with Camden and Keegan. But I have to say the real star of this book, for me at least, was Donna, Turner's mother. She was completely unexpected and everything you want a mother to be. Kind. Caring. Honest. Compassionate. Giving and forgiving. Her wonderfully thoughtful gesture towards Annabelle was just what she needed. It pulled her out of her funk (literally) and helped her to be able to move forward with her life, with Turner.

Slider really had it all- drama, humor, steam, sweetness and a great secondary cast. All of the Brooks brothers were present and their individual personalities are really starting to come out. I enjoyed the ending. While the book had finished Turner and Annabelle's story is far from over. I know I'll be seeing more of them in the future. And that little tease right at the end...I am very anxious to get my hands on Dodger's story!
I waited FOREVER for Book 2 - because book 1 was AWESOME! I didn't connect to these two at all. I didn't feel like the H knew what he was getting himself into. He was such a "stud" player...such a OTT serial dater...This guy is a doctor. It seemed like the setting should have been college for sure.
The h was okay. But the fact that she was happy just to be in the infamous doctor's bed...blah.
I just didn't feel the connection these two had.
The first book was awesome this one was not so much for how long it took to come out. It was short and very much rushed without really telltale Nguyen a story. Oh well they can't all be great.....
